Friends, family, clergy or your doctor may be able to
recommend local funeral directors. Most local companies are also listed in the
telephone directory.
Most funeral directors are members of one of two trade
associations:
Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF)
National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD)
Member firms must provide you with a price list on request
and cannot exceed any written estimate they give you without your permission.
It's a good idea to compare the prices of at least three firms and to check
when they expect to be paid.

Of the 200
plus crematoria in the UK 95 % are still owned by the local council
The others
are privately owned by large private companies.
If you have
an unresolved issue with a crematorium your local authority should have an
ombudsman that you can refer your complaint to, if you’re the crematorium is
private your only recourse is with the owners and then a solicitor
