How much does it cost do create a memorial web site?

A memorial website costs £35.00 to create and host for 12 months. This is to cover the cost of hosting. You can create and prepare a tribute before paying, but it will not be visible to your friends and family until it is paid for.

What happens after 12 months?

To keep your memorial online for subsequent years costs £10 per annum and is completely optional. You can choose not to renew your hosting after 12 months and you will not be charged another penny.

I dont have much pc knowledge. Is it still something I can use?

How do I create a online obituary?

go to the obituary page
click add obituary
enter your email address
enter the information about the person you have lost in the text boxes when prompted , including funeral details , preferences , time , date etc.
click payment
pay online through Paypal secure payment , either by card or through your paypal account if you have one.
Your condolence book will then be activated and friends and family can pay their respects.

How do I create a memorial website?

Add the title of the website
Enter your email address
Enter a password (so you can edit the website later, this will only remain if you pay)
Add an address that you would like the website to be called i.e. www.tributetimes.com/joansmith.
Click create … you are not asked to pay anything at this point
You will be taken to your settings page – where you can change your background picture, add music , pages , text & pictures.
You have your memorial website !
You can choose to pay or you can close the browser window, please note by closing without paying you loose the website and all the information you added.

How long does it take before i can see it online ?

Immediately, once you have created a memorial it can be viewed straight away. If you choose to pay it will stay online for 12 months, if you choose not to pay your website will be lost. If you pay for your website will stay online for 12 months and you can come back and add or change as many times as you like at no extra cost.

What is hosting ?

Hosting is providing a web address and a place in cyber space for your memorial to ‘sit’, as with any web page (including ours) we have to pay to put it onto the World Wide Web.

Who can access the memorial?

Anybody can view your memorial and leave their tribute.
You can make your website private so that only people who you give the address to will be able to find it, it will not be added into the directory.
You can find your memorial website through our search, unless you opt to keep it private.
We always advise that you keep personal data from the memorial, i.e. address, telephone number etc as the general public would in theory be able to see your memorial website to.

Can I update the memorial at any time?

Yes. When you create your online memorial you will be asked for a password, this allows you to update and edit the memorial at anytime how do we contact you ? Click on the contacts page in the ‘ our services’, we offer a customer service option for anyone that needs help with Tribute Times services. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need to.

What can I do with my tribute?

A tribute is like a miniature website. You choose the title that is displayed as the name of the website, a theme (that includes the colours and graphics) and optionally a 'soundtrack' that will play while your visitors are viewing the site. You can upload photos into small albums and write stories. Your guests can sign the remembrance book and leave their comments.

How many photos / stories can my album contain?

We currently limit each album to 20MB of photos and 10pages. 20MB is roughly equal to 200 pc-screen sized photos.

PC screen sized?

Photos from your digital camera are 'shrunk' to fit in the available area on your PC monitor. This means that each photo as it is displayed on screen can take up much less space than it would when it comes off the digital camera. We perform this resize for you to optimise your tribute's use of space.

Why cant we upload our own music?

Music that is not copyright free cannot be used on your memorial as it is considered theft. Some sites use ‘bandwidth theft’ ‘hotlinking’ to link the music from one server to another , the reason this is illegal is because it means that someone else pays to store that music . The only way round this is to have your own server. Tribute Times provide a library of music that is copyright free, and is stored on our server. This music is optimised to try and ensure that your site will always load speedily.

What happens to my site if I don’t renew?

your site gets archived , we send you 2 emails prior to the date of renewal to remind you. Please keep your email up to date in your account settings

How do I change my personal details?

Personal details are changed in the account settings section that you will see once you are logged in .

Why is it important to keep my details updated ?

Tribute Times make a conscious effort not to send you unnecessary emails but when your website is due for renewal we do need to contact you to remind you , otherwise your website might be lost.

How to make a site private or public

Once your logged in go to your ‘settings’ section you simply check or uncheck the option, make sure you save your settings

How to opt out of the featured site option

Once your logged in go to your settings section click the opt out box , make sure you save your settings

How to turn on/off the music

At the bottom of your memorial website is an option to ‘turn of music’ and click ‘no music’, make sure you save your settings

How to let family & friends now about your site

Tell a friend allows you to enter the email address of the person you wish to share the memorial website with, we then send an email with your personal memorial website link to that person. We do not store the persons email address.

How to change the templates

In your settings section , preview the templates , choose the one you feel is most appropriate and click on it, then save your settings by clicking on the save button
